In 1997 there were still two CD-i hardware developers: Philips and ..... LG

Nice detailed pictures of the LG-GDI-S710, brought to our attention by a CD-i member on Facebook: "The front looks like the DVS VE-200, but it is lacking the PAL/NTSC switch on the back, that both the LG GDI-700M and DVS VE-200"

This unit was sold in Korea. The production date is March 1997, which is very late as CD-i was already abandoned by Philips at that time! It might be that this player was meant for the educational market, the professional market and not the consumer market anymore. Also what I experienced here in the Netherlands, CD-i was alive until 2001 in the professional market, but the consumer market stopped in 1998.

I wonder if this version has also the same speed benefit as the LG GDI-700, which is a bit faster compared to Philips CD-i players. Next to Philips, LG (including the Goldstar brand) offered the most diverse range of CD-i players, including top-loaders and portable models. I have only seen a handful of specific korean CD-i titles, but maybe there are still unknown CD-i territories that we have to discover in Interactive Dreams, like we recently did with CD-i in Japan :)

[Thanks, CD-i Appreciation Group]
