After finishing CD-i games like 'CD Shoot', 'Origami' and 'Gnomes', one of the first Digital Video CD-i's made by Eaglevision was Exit 7: The Harley Davidson Experience'. It was a project by Interbike Publications who hired Spring Communications to design it. Producer Master Communications and Eaglevision. It is a Digital Video Optional title which means it plays either with or without a Digital Video Installed. But in similar cases like 'Master Labyrinth' and 'Strip Poker Live', it was used purely to beautify the experience with full motion video. But in this title it was different, it offered a very limited part of the disc and in this way with DVC it gives a total different experience.
In the museum part inside you will get to choose a time period between 'Twenties' up to 'Eighties' and it will offer you pcitures and info of the Harley Davidsons that were made in these years. In Joe's Custom Shop you can even customize a few bikes with different options, and it changes when you click on different options. But that is the only thing you can do when you don't have the DVC installed.
Exit 7: The Harley Davidson Experience is a whole lot more lively when you play it on a CD-i player with a Digital Video Cartridge installed.
While the home menu is similar, you can now hit the road and you are welcomed by a dutch woman who guides you through the experience. You suddenly have more optioned to choose from:
- Events
- Museum
- Madam Rose
- Joe's Custom Shop
- Boothill Saloon
- Dealers
- Parking
In this way these sections are in full motion video and it gives a lot more info about Harley Davidson, about the culture, about merchandising, about clothing, and even a list of dealers where to buy it. It is a true hommage to Harley Davidson and technically pretty impressive on CD-i.
Blazers about the title: "The actual and correct name of this CDi is "Exit 7", and it is listed on the ICDIA master list. Exit 7 is one of my favorite CDi gems, though my copy does not have that red sticker. I also saw both copies that were on Marktplaats, and checking with the best CDi collector confirmed that there's no differences between the discs. While obscure, Exit 7 isn't that tough of a title to obtain. Copies seem to pop up for sale at least once or twice per year."
