A boxed CD-i player is worth more than a player alone, collectors like to keep the original box, to store the player in a safe place, to showcase the original product as a complete item and to keep the value high whenever they want to sell it again. Philips CD-i players did not have a uniform way of packaging, it came in different styles. Most consumer products were packaged in plain cardboard boxes, but there were differences. Some of them got a slipcase to beautify the box. Most professional CD-i players we've seen actually came in a white box. The CD-i 910 came in a box which was an adaptation of other consumer products by Philips (I remember the design from HiFi systems. Here's a collection of CD-i packagings, did we miss any?

Beautification by means of slipcases around the box happened with the CD-i 470 and the CD-i 210 (maybe more, but we've never seen any pictures ot it):
