Zombie Dinos on CD-i was a Dinosaur Encyclopedia rather than an actual game

Out of the internal Philips Studio's that were set up to produce Philips CD-i games, one of the most productive and succesful studios was Philips Point Of View, or POV in short.  Next to creating valued CD-i titles including Tetris, Voyeur and some conversions of Cinemaware's Amiga classics on CD-i, Philips POV created their first 'non-game': Zombie Dinos. While it is listed in all 'official' CD-i games lists, this is not really a game, but more some kind of interactive Dinosaur encyclopedia for kids. It is a base-case CD-i title, released in 1993, right before the introduction of the Digital Video Cartridge.

It was even powerful enough in the console competition arena to arrange a licensing deal with Interplay. In order of Interplay converting a couple of their top franchises to CD-i, Philips licensed a number of titles to Interplay to release a CD-ROM version (=normally the enemy at that time).

Alex the Rubikang: "I've been looking into decent Philips CD-i games to try while I've got the system on loan and discovered "Zombie Dinos From Planet Zeltoid." While it looks like an educational game it has really good puppet FMV work. Check out your main man Dexter the Dinodroid!"

Avi: "It's pretty fun (lovely sound design honestly) but I find it has got some shortcomings in that it is a bit too slow paced and quickly runs out of fun (until you find the "brain blobs" that is, hoo ee talk about a large ham)"

[Thanks, Wald-muckel, Avi, Alex the Rubikang]
