Wait, Compton's Interactive Encyclopedia, that was the most common CD-i title ever made as it was a free give-away together with every CD-i player, right? That is right, but did you know that the developer, Compton's NewMedia, released a completely revised and updated version in 1995? The database was renewed as well as the videos were upgraded to support Full Motion Video. I loved the idea of a full encyclopedia on a CD, on my TV, and I loved this Digital Video version even more. Somehow, this version is pretty rare to find, probably not that many people were willing to invest in a new version, as they all owned the previous base-case version of Compton's Interactive Encyclopedia, which was released in 1992. While Compton's NewMedia used the same engine and you'll recognize the structure of the Topic Tree and the Time Machine immediately: The content of the database was new, updated with new facts. It was the final edition of the Compton's Interactive Encyclopedia on CD-i. While other developers released (local) encyclopedias until 1998 on CD-i, the original Compton's version (the first, too) - ended in 1995 with this excellent Digital Video version.

Trivia fact: It surprises me to find the USA Digital Video logo on the disc, while the release was in Europe (looking at the catalogue number).

[Thanks, Seventy7 for preserving this]
