The cutscenes of Link: The Faces of Evil and Zelda: The Wand of Gamelon, are widely recreated and used in Youtube videos. While there is a lot of criticism on these Philips CD-i games by various Link & Zelda fans, they still are officially licensed Nintendo games on CD-i. Thankfully in the CD-i Community, these games are much appreciated and it sure gives the Philips CD-i a lot of its current popularity. Today, VFX artist Hoolopee showed the world his work on a 3D recreated version of Morshu the shopkeeper, straight from Link:Faces of Evil.
But while the original was created in a very Philips-CD-i-like animation style, Hoolopee recreated Morshu in Blender by using RTX rendering performance (it was even picked up by Kotaku). And wow, it looks amazing. This is what a true remastered version of Link: The faces of Evil could look like on modern consoles! VFX artist Hoolopee is no stranger with this software, he earlier created a very nice 'demake' trailer of Death Stranding for PS1 and a Halo Infinite trailer for N64.
Link: The Faces of Evil was recently recreated as a whole game on PC by CD-i member Dopply.
check out the video below to see him moving in 3D rendering:
Morshu the shopkeeper has been recreated in 3D before, like you see in this collage, but it never came as close as the current effort by Hoolopee!
