CD-i member 'Wrestling with Gaming' observes that the current price of CD-i players on sites like eBay is about 300-500 euros: "Personally, I think that's too much for just the console. If you're in the market for one there are still some selling in the $200-$300 range (with the video cartridge) but patience is key.". Also CD-i member Dopply confirms this: "As someone who just browsed for one and bought one, I can corroborate this. I was able to get one for a good price w/o DVC but it took a lot of patience. To be fair, a lot of the $3-500 ones have the Timekeeper fixed and other mods." Is retrogaming in general getting more expensive? We see some CD-i games like Zelda's Adventure to reach prices near 1000 euros, which in our opinion is way too expensive. CD-i players are also increasingly malfunctioning: The timekeeper battery fails, the disc tray fails, it stops spinning, capacitors start leaking.
This CD-i 470 currently costs 125 euros. You want it? |
We recommend you to use the CD-i Community for this. In The Netherlands, CD-i players are a lot cheaper and we can help with buying and shipping. CD-i players like this are offered on the Dutch Marktplaats regularly. This very moment we see a CD-i 470 player for 125 euros and also a CD-i 210/40 (including DVC) also for 125 euros. If we search better I even can find a CD-i 210 player for 25 euros.
Our tip: use the community to help. CD-i players should not cost 300-500 euros.
