CD-i member Dopply recently created remastered versions of Link: Faces of Evil and Zelda: Wand of Gamelon, next to updated and sharper graphics, it plays far more smooth and it is now playable on PC in a way that was not possible before. After the huge success and appreciation of these remakes in game engine 'GameMaker', the initial versions have now been patched and updated to version 1.01. These improved versions included more graphics options as well as a couple of game tweaks and it solves some bugs. It was patched by a friend in the team named 'LinkFan420', in line with creator Dopply. The patches add the following options you can edit in savedata.ini. On Windows, savedata.ini is located in %localappdata%/FOER or %localappdata%/WOGR (depending on your game). On Linux, the savedata.ini file should be in your game directory. The new options that are available now:
- Low performance mode: Add lowspecmode="1" under [options]. This will disable all pre-loading of assets, so you will get microstutters throughout the game. However the VRAM requirements are significantly reduced. Use at your own risk.
- Gamepad/keyboard forcing mode: For those having trouble with keyboard or controller support, add force_kb="1" to force keyboard support, and force_gp="1" to force gamepad detection. If you add both, the game will default to keyboard controls.
- Window Scaling: Add window_scale="1" to your ini under [options]. 1x is default, but 2x, 3x, and 4x is available; change the number in the option for the different sizes. The scaling will appear after the intro.
- Skip intro: To skip the opening title, add intro_skip="1" under [options].
- Opening doors: In remastered mode, you now open doors by pressing the up key, separating this from the menu function.
- Collision tweaks: Certain areas have had their collision tweaked for better play.
- Shield enhancement in Remastered Mode: The shield has a larger hitbox in remastered mode.
- Other bug fixes: Certain other bugs were also patched, involving sprite errors, logic errors, etc.
- Rope surfaces were added in areas that did not have them.
- Version indicator: The game's current version is listed when the menu is open.
