The 'Don't be a fossil' folder that was uncovere this morning by CD-i member Jacob Davis revealed some nice details about two unreleased CD-i games. One of our highly anticipated CD-i titles, Microcosm, is mentioned in it including screenshot but not only that: It even shows a catalogue number and a suggested retail price. Microcosm was going to cost 50$, which is in the same price range as CD-i titles like Hotel Mario and Kether. For dutch references, this would be 100 NLG). High profile CD-i games like Thunderin Paradise and The 7th Guest had retail prices of 60$. Moreover, the catalogue number was going to 310690056-2. "In this High-tech thriller, you are in hot pursuit of GreyM, a deadly micro-robot loose inside the body of the president of a futuristic planet-wide corporation. Coming this fall to CD-i, Digital Video Cartridge required". The folder was printed in 1994.
Also of high interest is the mentioning of Return to CyberCity. This game we've never seen before in a catalogue, but was uncovered by Interactive Dreams years ago. As our sources hinted to us several times, it looks again like Retrun to CyberCity was going to be an updated version of the classic 'Escape to CyberCity', the 1992 CD-i classic by Fathom Pictures. Our sources also claimed that the CD-i version was 100% completed. This follows the fact that in this folder, just as with the Microcosm entry, a catalogue number is printed here: Return to CyberCity was going to have the catalogue number 310690122-2 in USA. So instead of a true sequel, Retrun to CyberCity was a 'Digital Video' version of the original, featuring fluid full motion video this time. Again, the price was set at 50$, which is cheaper than the original, which originally cost 60$.
The original secret package we discussed before in this post.
