Dutch cities were using CD-i tot promote their city and CD-i Patrick Selten just found another unknown one: Nijmegen also had an interactive disc about what it has to offer. Patrick: "Found a Dutch article about cd-i from 2013 about a talkshow of 2 hours about the cd-i. Also some history about the cd-i. But i also spotted a title that i didn’t know off. It a cd-i released by the city Nijmegen with info about the city. http://toendigitalemedianognieuwwaren.blogspot.com/2013/08/nachtuitzending-cd-interactive-van.html" - The guy behind this website is Jak Boumans, who is also active in our Philips CD-i Community. Jak: "As a consultant Content Strategy I was involved in CD-media, including CD-i. I wrote about CD-Iagainst the background of other CD--media and online. In cooperation with a research bureau my private consultancy started a survey among producers about the future of CD-I. I still have two CD-I players and about 50 CD-I titles.

Jak continues: "In the professional field CD-i was able to be successful. Elesevier Science released an anatomic atlas, but to be sure they also released it on CD-ROM. The Dutch Police was trained by means of a CD-i course, which was a series of five CD-i discs produced by Circon. The Dutch Airport Schiphol and Shell chose CD-i to train their employees in safety. The learning company VEKA produced a CD-i that students could use to learn the theory behind driving before taking an exam. The hospotal in Tilburg offered a point of information system via CD-i to it's patients. And like this one above, this is from the Dutch city Nijmegen. They used CD-i to inform their citizens about their activities. The possibilities of CD-i in the field of movies images and interactivity were the reason that CD-i was used in professional areas for many years, even after the consumer market of CD-i was long gone."

[Thanks, Jak Boumans, Patrick Selten]
