When you bought a new CD-i Player in The Netherlands, you were welcomed by the (at that time) Head of Philips Consumer Electronics, the department that was responsible for 'Interactive Systems'. At that time, rhis was R. van der Vlis, promising a bright future for CD-i and all its possibilities. CD-i member Jaco van Schie made a scan of the original letter. It is really special that some of our CD-i members save and collect CD-i stuff for almost 30 years and that a 'simple' letter like this was never thrown away! The letter also invited you to the Philips Gold Club: This was a member service that you could register to without any costs and Philips sent out catalogues periodically with all the latest titles to your home address. In these catalogues, also sometimes discounts were given. It even registers the serial number of your CD-i player so your insurance company automatically knows which CD-i player belongs to you, if it gets stolen :)
