In the past 20 years that we were hunting down CD-i titles and searching for information of all CD-i titles, there are still some very rare titles that we have never seen before. One example that has been discussed a lot on our old forums is 'The Adventure of the Space Ship Beagle', which was released in 1990 and developed by Denshi Media Services in Japan. Mind you, CD-i was not even released in 1990. This might be the oldest/earliest CD-i title released in Japan. There is no mentioning of Japan Interactive Media either. But now we can proudly say that we have a copy of this game in our archive! This is a true NTSC title though and it won't play in any PAL CD-i player. That is remarkable, as we previously thought that all CD-i titles were region-free, but this is clearly not always the case. I'm impressed by the colourful disc this time, and it reveals the retro-inspired pixels that the game was built around. It was developed by Japanese students - I hope our members will be able to translate the Japanese characters for us!
Together with cdifan we are trying to rip the disc and get it running in CD-i Emulator, so hopefully we are able to show you more soon!
