I never realized that the Kyocera Pro 1000S CD-i player is on the front actually called "Superimpose CD Interactive". In fact, this player has a superimpose function button on the side, what could it have been used for? CD-i member Marco ConteZero: "Probably works in the same way of the old amiga genlock.
You can superimpose the cdi video source to an analog composite source, to add interactive graphics to an analog video (like the one from a vcr). Maybe the professional cdi with dvd support has something like this."

Also the 'video-in' port has our interest. This player was meant for the professional market, perhaps they had application to use video material from another source, played in CD-i presentations? This might compensate for the lack of Digital Video possibilities, as this player did not have a Digital Video Cartridge.

Another interesting port is the S-Video out port, as not many CD-i players have it.

[Thanks, Jacob Davis, Marco ConteZero]
