Have you ever visited the Philips Museum? It is located in Eindhoven, The Netherlands and it features the whole heritage of Philips Electronics from the past. Well, kind of. I'm always a bit disappointed in what the official Philips Museum has to offer in the field of videogames. And that's while Philips had a big influence in the development of the gaming scene. Now with the Corona crisis, a lot of museums offer free virtual tours through their collection. The Philips Museum has also done this and the virtual tour is very nice, now you can all walk through the Philips Museum and look for gaming related stuff. Don't get me wrong, it is great museum and if you have an interest in Philips as a company, it sure give you a lot of history about this great electronics company!

Take a virtual tour through the official Philips Museum here

The picture above shows a timeline of Philips products and if you look closely you will see a CD-i 450 in here. That's the only part the museum has to say about CD-i and gaming in general. Philips had a large influence in gaming, starting with the acquisition of Magnavox, their PC developments, the whole CD-I story, but also their in2it handheld and dedicated consoles. The focus in the Philips Museum is now more on vinyl (You'll find more Polygram references too), probably because they can reach a wider audience with it now, but I will always hope they will see the relevance of bringing us more exposure to the history of gaming that Philips shaped quite a bit in the West!
