While the art style of the CD-i Zelda games are often point of discussion, it has also created a very special fan-art style by the community. Several artists who are fan of the genre have specifically created a #cdilink character and a #cdizelda character, inspired on the cartoon style of the movie sequences in Link: Faces of Evil and Zelda: Wand of Gamelon on CD-i. These games were originally published by Philips Media in 1993 and officially licensed by Nintendo. Producer Animation Magic tried to make these game unique in their own respect and outsourced the cartoon-style movies so they could focus on the gameplay. The end product resulted in Zelda games that could not compete with the actual Nintendo products, but the fact that original Nintendo IP was released on a Philips CD-i console always made these games popular (the games itself are widely considered subpar, but at least the style is used so much that it is remarkable to see these games are so well-known even today.) It even attracted artists to give their own turn on the distinct style of CD- Link and CD-i Zelda, which I find really amazing, have a look:
