CD-i member Blazers brought us new knowledge on several long box CD-i titles as released in a grey case in the early years of CD-i in USA. He made a list of what CD-i titles were actually released in a grey long box, and moreover he made a top 10 with the rarest CD-i titles in this format. A few of them are so rare there is nothing about them to be found on the internet. Thanks to CD-i member Blazers we can enjoy a few of the most rare long box CD-i titles.

1. "The ACT College Search 92" was produced by CapDisc in conjunction with American College Testing (ACT) in 1992, who provided the knowledge and content that is used in this disc. The catalogue number is 310690068-2. We know CapDisc of various CD-i titles (in fact, they were the most productive CD-i developer next to Philips) and were most famous of bringing games like "Kingdom: Far Reaches" and "Mad Dog McCree". But CapDisc was also known for more educational titles like Shark Alert and the unreleased Winston Churchill

The ACT College Search 92 looks like a very informative and educational CD-i title. You can look up colleges in the USA based on housing, city, activities available, costs and sports. In this way you can make the right decision what college will be right for you. It is like a comparison disc of different schools (universities, the naming is different in Europe: colleges in USA) and this disc provides all the content about what type of schools there are located in USA and what they offer.

The back cover explains nicely the contents of the disc:

The ACT College Search disc allows students to identify the colleges that meet their needs is this comprehensive interactive four of the four-year colleges in the United States.
You can also search colleges by:
  1. Location
  2. Size
  3. Student life
  4. Affiliation
  5. Tuition
  6. Admission selectivity
  7. Majors
  8. Settings.
You will view photographs and find detailed information for four-year colleges in these areas:
  1. Admissions Requirements
  2. Activities available
  3. Housing
  4. Cost and financial aid
  5. Student body profile
  6. Sports
  7. Programs of study
  8. Special programs and services
Your selection can be stored for easy access to review and compare schools. When you have identified a list of schools that meet your profile needs, the Next Step section will provide advice to help you make your final decisions and complete the admissions process.

2. Anne Willan Presents The Food of France by BEPL in 1992 is another unknown CD-i title. You can find a ROM for this title online and it is also compatible with the latest CD-i Emulator. As it was published in 1992, it does not require a Digital Video Cartridge.
The catalogue number is 310690108-2. BEPL is another well known CD-i developer who brought us CD-i titles like Space Safari and Wordplay. BEPL also brought us free CD-i game prototypes of Tic-Tac-Toe and Solitaire (Soon to be covered deeper on Interactive Dreams)

The Food of France provides us with French recipes carefully chosen by Anne Willan, who was the president of La Varenne: A famous classic cooking school based in France. There is also a audio/video tour through the regions of France, to give more information of where the recipes come from.
