90% of the CD-i 450 repairs are about the center ring of the motor being pressed down so the disc won't spin anymore

CD-i member Jacob Davis mentioned a problem with his CD-i 450 player, something that can be of use in many attempts of repairing your CD-i 450 player when a disc does not spin anymore: Jacob: "I have a 450. When I put in a game or movie, it knows when the lid is open and even says when a disc is in. But the disc will not spin. Even when I click on the Disc option it won't do anything." What can be the problem: CD-i member Muh Mullet has a clever solution:

The 450 optical assembly doesn't have a drive belt, the spindle is connected directly to the motor.
probably the center ring of the motor was pressed down. 90% of the repairs on these i get are because of that. people press down on a disc and press that disc down on the spindle, expecting it to "click" into place. The disc is held in place by the plastic hub with magnet in the lid. You can wedge something under the grey center bit and gently push it back up a bit if that seems stuck.

Hold the rest of the assembly in place, (black plastic cover) while you gently wedge the knife under,
a sharp thin blade will slide under quite a way, and twisting that blade a little will pop it back up just enough to clear it again, and it will turn freely.

[Thanks, Muh Mullet, Jacob Davis]
