CD-i games that were released in a CD-ROM style big cardboard box - Philips Media treated a handful of CD-i games in a deluxe way

CD-i member Mini (@minimorphee) brought us some unique pictures of the big box version of CD-i games. From a few days back: "Philips Media France released certain CD-i games in a big box version, comparable with its CD-ROM counterparts. In these editions, the jewelcase was also present inside with the same boxart, but it was put in a big carton box, sometimes with a bigger manual or just larger promotional images. As you can read in our previous post, other CD-i members have previously posted that more CD-i titles actually received a big box cardboard CD-ROM style version, but we have not seen any physical proof of these yet. Philips Media, as they also published some of their titles on CD-ROM as well, already had experience with this style of packagaing, so the style was similar to both CD-i and CD-ROM. That means the inlay with the Philips Media letters were actually the same. The game itself was on both formats distributed in standard jewelcases. The only difference is the line "Compact Disc Interactive" on the bottom, which was in the case of CD-ROM, simply "PC CD-ROM". These titles below you'll be able to trace back in our CD-i catalogue as well as they will be covered here individually in the future. Stay tuned :)

We know that the following CD-i games were actually released in a big box version: Chaos Control. Flashback, The 7th Guest, Secret Mission, Mad Dog McCree" Let's have a close look at the packaging of these unique CD-i titles: (click on the pics to see them in full detail, without watermark of course)

2. Secret Mission (1996)

[Thanks, Mini]
