After defeating Gannon he starts to spin and is turned into a whirlwind. The dungeon begins to explode and crack until the screen turns white. Next you are returned to screen where you started the game, but with the entrance to Gannon’s dungeon destroyed. What then follows are still pictures of a peaceful Tolemac. First there is a river flowing through the land. Then there is a farm with a few cows wandering about. Finally, you get a glimpse of Link (the first and only in the game), standing beside Zelda on a small platform, surrounded by grass and flowers. You are then returned to a screen with the narrator looking out of a tower window, while delivering the ending monologue: "Princes Zelda, you’ve succeeded. Your victory has brought peace and light back to Tolemac. Your courage and strength will not be forgotten. For now, your work is done. Off you go and celebrate Link's return, but first, remember, lessons of the heart, mercy and human kindness prevail above all else. Farewell young princess!" This is followed by a "The End" screen, and then the credits start to roll.
While the boss in Zelda is generally spelled Ganon, in Zelda's Adventure it is spelled Gannon. Contrary to popular belief, the name "Gannon" has applied to other sources. For instance, the Japanese version of Zelda II: The Adventure of Link also misspelled the name during the intro and game over text, and the dungeon in the Japanese version of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past is also called Gannon's Tower. Gannon was present in the CD-i game Zelda's Adventure.
