CD-i member Omegalfa is the lucky owner of a professional CD-i 660 player but it is having troubles. Omegalfa: "On my 660, when inserting a disc, it spins and recognize the disc, but the CD skates... just like it is not holding perfectly between the turn-plate and the upper ring..." What could be the cause of this? One important detail is that he replaced the CDM in his CD-i 660 player because the old one died. The new one is a VAM model instead of a CDM model, probably because it is more readily available or cheaper to come by (it happens more often).

CD-i member Retrostuff noticed "that the VAM spindles not always match the counterpart on top. You can try to give it more pressure by placing a small magnet on top of the counterpart. If it is too weak, it will fly away. If it is too strong, you will have problems opening the drawer when no disc is inside. I think it's the shape of the spindle. I wouldn't remove and replace it though. [Less obvious would be the difference in height or position]. Try first to swap the laser sled, even if it is more work."In the end, Omegalfa positionedthe 'turntable' of the VAM 1 mm higher so the pressure on the magnet is higher. So sometimes this can also solve the issue.
