Early CD-i movies in USA were also pressed as 'Digital Video on CD-i' instead of 'Video CD' format - While the cover is not really clear about this

Early movies on CD-i were not pressed as Video CD (White Book standard) but in fact as CD-i (Green Book standard) - Simply because the White Book standard was not ready yet. About ten early movies were pressed as 'Digital Video on CD-i', but after a year these were repressed as Video CD as well. But that's about European releases. How about their USA counterparts? Were the early USA CD-i movies also no Video CD but instead true CD-i's? It's hard to distinguish as USA movies on CD-i only used the 'Digital Video' logo as general statement that a cartridge was required. According to CD-i member Retrostuff, these early movies including Patriot Games, The Hunt for Red October and Top Gun were also in USA pressed as CD-i's instead of true Video CD's. Retrostuff: "Of course, e.g. Patriot Games ( 310690314-2) From the abstract file on the disc: "This disc was created with the Edison authoring kit, which features a standard set of templates for playback of CDi Digital Video movies and video collections." Or The Hunt for Red October (310690302-2)"

So maybe it is in fact that yellow Digital Video logo that indicates it is about a CD-i instead of VCD? On eBay I see various newer USA CD-i movies that just say 'Video CD' on the front cover.

[Thanks, Retrostuff]
