"The Lost Ride" on CD-i performed some impressive technical tricks under the hood

When we discussed the CD-i titles which were demanding the most of the CD-i hardware, the game "The Lost Ride" was mentioned a couple of times, especially because of the seamless branching technique which is implemented in it. This technical trick was not unique to The Lost Ride, but developer The Lost Ride managed to get it to run in fast cycles after each other, creating the freedom of a multi-track rail system (a roller coaster) in various settings. The game managed to have sprites on screen on a separate layer on top of the video layer, allowing you to shoot on them as well, including sound effects on top of the 'music' (or, what it mostly is, running noises of the cart). At the time, in 1998, CD-i seemed to be perfect to do it, but unfortunately the game was not allowed to be tested 100% and on certain CD-i players, some bugs were left in. I hope at one time we will be able to enjoy this on CD-i Emulator too!
