According to CD-i member cdifan, the author of CD-i Emulator, the new version 0.60 beta1 will be out hopefully later this year. He hinted before a new version would be released to celebrate the 30th anniversary of CD-i, on October 15, 2021. This day marks the moment CD-i was released in USA, in fact the first region in the world who were able to experience CD-i. One of the key features of the new CD-i Emulator is Digital Video compatibility. The latest 0.53 beta versions also supported Digital Video to a certain extent, but this never went into a final release yet. The first CD-i Emulator was released 15 years ago and the author, CD-i Fan, has mentioned several times that he is still working on a new version. The current Digital Video support is actually pretty amazing and the current level of compatibility is unique. Even the MAME CD-i Emulator, which is partly based on the code of CD-i Fan's own CD-i Emulator, does by far not work as good as CD-i Fan's own effort. Due to undocumented parts of the CD-i hardware it requires a lot of reverse engineering by CD-i Fan to properly code a CD-i Emulator.
[Thanks, cdifan]
