Interesting details were shared by a former developer on Rise of the Robots on CD-i. Five people were involved in the process of the CD-i version. The conversion was done by Pete Dabbs. It started as a Digital Video Optional title. This means that the game would play on every CD-i player, with or without DVC installed. But when a DVC was present, it would feature more options and enhanced gameplay. The extra memory was used for smoother animations and with Full Motion Digital Video the background offered extra graphical effects. Another interesting feature was a making of video that was available on the CD-i version, showing pieces of the robots that never reached the final product as well as stills from the creation process. Parts of this eventually were used in the 'Director's Cut' version, which was only released on PC. The first testing phase discs would still have this content on CD-i, so it is very interesting to hunt this down!
