CD-i memberGrzegorz Taberski found the CD-i homebrew idea by Adrian Zanoli which he shared with us a year ago. In this he stated: "I
was thinking about the praticability of a game like this on the CD-i,
in a nutshell is a "cockpit view" racing game where the tracks are MPEG
videos but other cars are sprites that move around the sceen, U have no
control over the speed of the car, but by correctly pressing buttons at
certain points (corners, straights, etc) you can overtake your
opponents. I'm reading the green book right now, and looks like it is
somehow possible if you stay in the 2.5 MB RAM."
Is this project still active? Furthermore, are there any other home-brew for the CD-i? I have seen the Nobelia demo only so far, Grzegorz wonders. Until
today, Nobelia is the only active homebrew project on CD-i. The previous CD-i homebrew project was Super Quartet, but CD-i member Gameblabla
stated himself that he stopped working on Super Quartet (as it still has
some issues), so I don't expect anything from that soon. This idea above by
Adrian was just an idea, but who knows? There are more CD-i members who have the idea of developing a piece of CD-i software and the recent outing of TwBurn might push them over the edge!
By the way, if you are interested to try Super Quartet on CD-i, you are still able to do so by downloading an image from this link. You can burn this image using a software program like Imgburn to have a working physical CD-i disc.
