The Magnavox CD-i 200 was the first Magnavox CD-i player in USA, after Philips introduced the CD-i in USA under its own Philips brand. In 1991, Philips first released the CD-i 205 in USA. This version is only available under the Philips flag. However, later models like the Philips CD-i 210 and Philips CD-i 450 both have a Magnavox version, with the first one being more rare to find nowadays. One reason why they did this is because Philips was not a well known brand in USA, while it was popular in Europe. Philips acquired the Magnavox brand to broaden its visibility in the USA market, but it still tried to push the Philips name. The Philips CD-i 220, however, was released in USA only as a Philips product, there is no Magnavox CD-i 220 version. Also other Philips CD-i players like the portable players and the professional CD-i players only exist as Philips versions. It might have been an experiment to lower the costs or just to have more options for people who don like the Philips name!
