We received a very interesting advertisement today. It was posted by American Interactive Media in 1990. American Interactive Media was the company behind the USA CD-i publishing, later renamed to Philips Interactive Media of America (PIMA). In the advertisement, American Interactive Media congratulates those companies who, at the 1990 CD-i Conference in Tokyo, demonstrated their commitment to the Interactive Compact Disc Technology either by demonstrating working models or giving detailed descriptions of their activities to develop players for this revolutionary technology. This group includes: Philips, Sony, Panasonic, Yamaha, Pioneer, Sharp, RICOH, Sanyo Fisher, Fujitsu Ten.
I find this particularly interesting as from most companies we have not found any proof that they worked on CD-i. Yamaha and Pioneer, Sharp and Fujitsu only appeared in credits but they never leaked anything about their CD-i plans outside. It seems there' s still a lot to discover about CD-i.
On the right side AIM congratulates companies who demonstrated their commitment to the development of CD-i software (ABC Sports, Caesar's, Parker Brothers, Rand McNally, Time Life, Brittanica Software and more). Also in this column some interesting names are mentioned, but most of them in the end have released one or more titles on CD-i.
