Thanks to CD-i member Seventy777 and the collection of CD-i member of Blazers, various unique CD-i material reaches our CD-i Community. What we see here is a pre-production prototype CD-R disc of a Tetris build for the CD-i, dated 7-2-1992. It's not often we see these CD-R discs that were used in the early Nineties for the CD-i format. Games like Super Mario's Wacky Worlds and Micromosm, both available as prototype on CD-i, were also discovered on these type of CD-R discs. Without portable hard drives or even the internet, these discs were the way to spread the first demo's to the team to test how it works on a real CD-i player. These pre-production discs are often different compared to the final retail product, like we've seen in the Escape from Cyber City prototype which included a 'God Mode' to faster test if every scene would work. I'm not sure if any of the known CD-i prototypes have ever been archived/scanned like this, at least CD-i member Videogame Obsession (Matthew) did it with his former copy of Super Mario's wacky Worlds!
[Thanks, Seventy777, Blazers]
