CD-i member Daniel Hyatt reviews the remastered versions of Link: Faces of Evil and Zelda: Wand of Gamelon: They make it possible for more people to complete it and what happens after completing these games?

There are several CD-i members playing the remastered versions of Link & Zelda these days, thanks to the effort of our member Dopply. This includes member MotorRoach who created a lovely drawing (which you see here at the top) promoting his playthroughs on his Twitch channel and Daniel Hyatt who shared some great pictures of what happens when you finish these games. Daniel Hyatt: "So having now completed both the Zelda: The Wand of Gamelon & Link: The Faces of Evil Remasters, I can honestly say that they are fantastic. The characters move faster and so much smoother, you no longer have one button basically doing everything, you have unlimited continues so you're now no longer thrown back to the map after three tries, and there are some very cool unlockables after you've completed the games a few times.

The graphics have been improved with all the original sprites there, and the music has always been great in these games. Playing both games on the PC with an XBOX One controller was just mad, I loved it. No need to dig my CD-i player out, and I can save the game whereas the timekeeper in my CD-i has died so I can't save my games on there anymore. Definitely an afternoon well spent with lots of nostalgia and fun, and the games are no longer crazy hard and no longer have the worst controls.

Don't read on if you don't want to know what the unlockables are in the Zelda: The Wand of Gamelon & Link: The Faces of Evil Remasters.

So I've now completed Zelda: The Wand of Gamelon twice unlocking Link & King Harkinian and God Mode where I don't take any damage whatsoever from enemies and always have infinite amounts of items.  Absolutely loved smashing through both remastered games. I love how much smoother the character moves, it isn't just one button controlling basically everything, you get unlimited continues so you're not thrown back to the map after three tries, and the unlockable characters and infinite items and no damage were really nice surprises.

I also liked how when playing as King Harkinian he is basically rescuing himself haha. I finished them both twice from start to end to unlock the other characters and then was able to just replay the final level again with King Harkinian and finish them a third time to unlock God Mode.

It's so good to be able to now play several Philips CD-i and Windows ports of CD-i games on my PC which so far I have: Mystic Midway: Rest In Pieces, Litil Divil, Voyeur, International Tennis Open, Zelda: The Wand of Gamelon, Link: The Faces of Evil, Flashback and Chaos Control." (All available on Steam)

Has anyone else played them yet?
