Yesterday we posted an unknown announcement in the french CD-i Magazine about the existence of a Multimedia CD-i title: Gothic Cathedrals of Europe. It appears that CD-i member Candela has seen this actually for sale years ago, which would mean this title in the end was released. It could be that it remained a local release so the distribution was small, resulting in another very rare CD-i title.

On the other hand, this title was also released on CD-ROM. Candela: "Seen this title for sale on Ebay many years ago, came in a big box if I remember correctly. Don't think I have a picture saved unfortunately. I do have this from a large PDF I once found somewhere "European Commission - IMPACT - Interactive Multimedia Projects.pdf"

On the Internet we can't find anything about this title! Who else knows something about Gothic Cathedrals of Europe? According to this document, this was actually the first title in "Monumenta", a series of electronic publications which will explore Europe's architectural heritage. Producer Denise Vernerey turned to interactive multimedia to provide a new perspective on 35 of Europe's great medieval cathedrals.

The original title was a French exclusive with the title 'Cathedrales Gothiques d'Europe'. In this title, you can find pictures and background information of 31 European cathedrals from many cities:Albi, Amiens, Anvers, Auxerre, Barcelona, Beauvais, Bouges, Bruges, Burgos, Canterbury, Carcassonne, Chartres, Cologne, Ely, Fribourg, Gérone, Leon, Lyon, Milan, Noyon, Orvieto, Paris, Poitiers, Prague, Reims, Rouen, Saint-Denis, Senlis, Sienna, Strasbourg, Toledo, Toulouse, Vienna, Wells and York. The disc was published by Kairos Vision and part of the CD-i series by 'Reunion des Musees Nationaux'. CD-i member Omegalfa shared a few more pictures about a rare physical version:

[Thanks, Candela, Arethius RGC, Omegalfa]
