The live action arcade games made by 'American Laser Games' were fitting great in the strategy of Philips to bring 'interactive movies' to CD-i. Thanks to the addition of Full Motion Video to CD-i and the efforts by CapDisc, CD-i got several conversions of these arcade originals. Thanks to the release of the Philips CD-i Peacekeeper Revolver the experience cam close to what we enjoyed at the arcades. Of course the arcade versions itself will always be the best, but of all console versions of that time, the CD-i versions were truely superior. While the game specs of CD-i were not that great, this particularly genre, combining cursor-shooting with MPEG FMV was perfect for it.

Thanks to the fact that these American Laser Games were not CD-i exclusive, there's a lot more to be found that was used as merchandising.

As example, one of the American Laser Games that did not get a CD-i version was Fast Draw Showdown. The original arcade machine could be equipped with a trading card dispenser, giving away trading cards of the characters that were starring in this game. Some of these also appeared in other games by ALG, including Mad Dog McCree, Slappy Back and Drop Seat Dan.

And these wallpapers are shared with us by the guys behind EmuMovies:

Thanks for sharing this with the CD-i Community!
