CD-i member Jaco van Schie shared with us some nice scans of CD-i demonstration discs that were given away for free during the ninetees. If you had a subscription to CD-i Magazine, they were bundled with the catalogue, which was in itself part of CD-i Magazine. Otherwise, these discs were sent via the CD-i Gold Club to your home. Especially of the one above I have frond memories: This was the first time I heard about The Lost Ride, as well as Atlantis: The Last Resort and Zenith, all three great CD-i titles to look forward to. Can you imagine that, when you've never seen a realtime first person shooter on CD-i, that is was amazing that it was actually possible on the limited CD-i hardware? Even Zenith looked graphically amazing (I didn't think CD-i could handle games like this). And The Lost Ride was another marvel to me: seamless branching on CD-i was actually happening! Well, this disc was released in the second half of 1996. Zenith and Atlantis: The Last Resort both came out in 1997. The Lost Ride took another year before we could play it, in 1998.

[Thanks, Jaco van Schie]
