Freedom Fighter was a LaserDisc game released in 1987 and ported by Millenium Games. It was originally an Arcade game from 1984 and based on the manga series Galaxy Express 999, which was written and illustrated by Leiji Matsumoto. In 1992 Philips Media and Fathom Pictures converted this game to CD-i, but changed its name to "Escape from Cyber City". We wondered if both were exaxtly the same game or was the second one based on the first one? CD-i member Thom: "My all time favourite game is Escape from CyberCity. I remember being fascinated by the credits that it was based on movies (Galaxy Express 999 and Adieu Galaxy Express). I believe it uses quite a lot of the same footage as in Freedom Fighter, but Freedom Fighter has some bits that aren't in Escape From CyberCity, such as a shoot out at a baseball game". Escape from Cyber City is still one of the highest ranked classics on CD-i and it is in many favourite CD-i lists together with triple A CD-i's like The Apprentice and Burn:Cycle.
