The Terminator movies on Video CD were published by Philips Media, but it looks like the first one was exclusive to Europe, the second one was exclusive to USA

Terminator 2: Judgment Day is listed in the official Philips Video CD Masterlist, as a VCD released in USA. Remarkably, the first terminator movie is only listed in the European masterlist, released by RCV in Europe. But it is the Terminator 2 movie that has some confusing layout, somehow it even feels fake. What's wrong here? The pictures here were posted by the4kCollectivE, which are nice and sharp, a good start to discover any fake discs. It looks genuine, but the CD-i Movies logo that is typical on all USA CD-i releases is positioned on the right instead of the left. That's the first time I see this. Moreover, it sais simply Video CD on the bottom. That's not following the design rules by Philips to release its video cd's. Let's take Robocop as an example:

That's what we normally see on Video CD's released by Philips in USA. Could it be that Terminator 2 was an early release? It is again odd to see the copyrights mention 1991 for the layout and 1992 to copyright the movie itself. The first Video CD's were released in 1993 onwards.

However, it shows that Terminator 2: Judgment Day was only distributed by Philips Media, rather than that they published the title. This may explain the different lay-out. It would be the first USA Video CD that was just distributed by Philips. However, most Video-CD's that were released in USA have 'Philips Interactive media of America' on it, as the name Philips Media was introduced around 1995.

Still there are several of these copies around and the high quality pics we see here actually look very genuine. But why is it so different?

The Philips logo is on the right and it is mentioned in the credits that this disc was distributed by Philips Media, without a year, but including the right catalogue number and the address.

The original Terminator 1 movie was released in Europe by RCV: Somehow, Terminator 1 was never released in USA. There are probably rights and licensing issues that prevented this from happening.
