Discworld on CD-i: Finished, but lost forever

My first discovery of Discworld on CD-i was in the copyright section of the dutch CD-i catalogue (in 1995!). Without mentioning anything of the game, Discworld was already reserved in the copyrights for future purposes. In 1996, the game was actually reviewed in CD-i Magazine, although they made the biggest mistake ever to actually review the CD-ROM version, claiming it would be highly similar as the upcoming CD-i version. 1996, that was a tricky year for CD-i as Philips Media pulled the plug and several projects were cancelled. Discworld was never officially published, but the official boxart was made and shown in the promotional Mega Pop Classics CD-i disc in 1994. That cover is genuine. Normally boxart covers are only designed when a game is sort of ready to publish, it's one of the final tasks.

In 2007 we really tried to get in contact with the developing team. And while we had a few contacts who claim that the CD-i version was finished, (at Teeney Weeny Games and Perfect 10 Productions) even so many claim the CD-i version doesn't exist. With all these hints I'm still confident Discworld on CD-i exists, we only still don't know where it is!

The latest comment that the CD-i version was finished, comes from Roberth Anthony Martinez Rivero, who claims on Facebook: "A YouTuber called manmonkee dropped a bomb of a comment a month ago revealing something truly unexpected...It seems that Atari approached Perfect 10 Productions/Teeny Weeny Games (where manmonkee worked) in order to port Discworld to the Jaguar CD, which never moved foward beyond the discussional phase via phone. Damn, we lost a good one...But you may be wondering what does this has to do with the CD-i? Well here's the real kicker: manmonkee confirmed to me that the CD-i version of Discworld was not only finished but fully playable as well. So there you have it CD-i fans, you lost a good title as well". See the video about the Atari version below:

I still believe, Discworld on CD-i is out there....
