Back in March we showed you full details of the CD-i Internet kit package, thanks to CD-i member Jer Main Lur Vink. Now we received again some high quality pictures of the manual and modem which we did not want to hold back. These pictures look very nice and you can see all the details of the modem for example, including the connections. Did you realize that on the back of the CD-i modem there was this line: "Ministerie van Verkeer en Waterstaat"? Why is that? In 1996 Philips released the CD-i Internet Package for CD-i in Europe. This package you see here is from the Netherlands. The service was set up with CD-Online. a 14k4 modem was included that could be connected to any CD-i player. We learnt that a faster modem would not have been possible anyway, although 14k4 was already slow compared to what the competition offered in 1996/1997.

For reference, click here to see details of the USA Web-i package.

Also the flyer below is nice and shows what you can do with internet and why you should take a subscription. Even the prices are there: 15 NLG every months on top of the 300 NLG Internet kit. Back in the day it was an amazing experience, but pretty expensive.

Finally, also the packaging is pictured in high quality. I'm not sure if this was also available in other countries, as all the pictures that are on the internet are from the dutch internet kit. How, for example, did the UK package look like?

[Thanks, Tom, Jer Main Lur Vink, The World of CD-i and David]
