CD-i member Aashima Yoshihiro made the 5v dc power connector for his CD-i-450. We talked before about the possibility to create a USB power source for use with the CD-i 450, as it requires 5V. Aashima Yoshihiro did some experiments and shares with us his result: "The original power supply uses a RJ45 and it’s very expensive and rare since I never got one in hand it was not easy. The CD-i 450 uses multiple inputs. The power switch works like the original power supply. Normally it looks like it uses a redirected output line for enabling the dc input line from the power supply.
Here is the pinout from the top of the PCB for the ground. Both have to be connected but for the 5V+ only one of 3 is needed to be soldered; the other 3 points are connected on the same line.
If it’s a 3A USB power supply (if you have the video card it requires 3A), the mod is not hard and you don’t need big soldering skills. Just replace the original rj45 port with cutting pliers to cut the 8 legs. I think with this mod we can save a lot of CD-i 450 players!"
