CD-i member Videogame Obsession found a very interesting auction that was up offering the original "Starlord Zendo" clay sculpture character used in the 1992 Philips CD-i game Laser Lords. One of the things that marked this CDi game as being so unique was the combination of animation and claymation in the opening and cut scenes. This figure was crafted by Ronald Joyce, the Chief Artist and Animator for the game. He also did the Claymation models for the Alice in Wonderland CD-i game.

In this game, Starlord Zendo is your mentor, guide, and guardian as you attempt to find the Condensation Crystal and save the day! The hand-tooled clay maquette stands approximately 14.5" tall (with base). The wooden base is 16.5" x 10.25". The colors are not as vibrant as they are in the cut scenes as a result of dust and light exposure, and the figure has suffered from wear and age. There are cracks and some pieces flaking off, notably on the head fin.

The hands are separate (likely so they could be molded and moved), but are included and can be attached. In Good condition. This is a one-of-a-kind production-used piece of this game's lore and history. Be sure to also look for the original art cover painting for this game, which also features Starlord Zendo.

We've found before claymation aculptures of other CD-i game, like these original clay figures that were used in Zelda's Adventure, made by Jason Bakutis:
