For a long time we wondered what the missing link is between LG GDI-700M and DVS VE-200. The DVS VE-200 is always considered as one of the most beautiful CD-i players that have been produced. The biggest benefit is that is has a replaceable timekeeper battery, instead of an integrated chip that can't be removed. In this way, when your timekeeper battery runs out of power, you can easily replace it. In Philips CD-i players this is one of the biggest design flaws! For all the years we knew about the DVS VE-200 model (which showed up on eBay from time to time) - We didn't know a lot about LG CD-i players. The Goldstar/LG models were released in asia (more specifically, at least in Korea). The LG GDI-700M is the exact same model as the DVS VE-200, which sounds like the smaller DVS company licensed the CD-i model from LG and perhaps released it in western countries (which might explain why we have seen more DVS models here rather than LG models.

In Europe, these units were focused towards a professional audience, the DVS units were not commercially available in retail shops. The LG CD-i models I have never seen in Europe.
