CD-i was more than games: Explore the riches of coins in this CD-i reference title by the Smithsonian Institution

CD-i member Videogame Obsession recently posted a few images of this CD-i reference title: The Smithsonian presents: The riches of Coins > A catalogue of coins now digitally available on CD-i. The Smithsonian Institution created a few more CD-i titles, including 'Treasures of The Smithsonian' and a special edition about 'stamps', using the same engine as how they created this edition about 'coins'. The variety of titles like these make CD-i really a special format: Where else can you explore these coin collections on your television? While I used to be more focused on CD-i games as many of you, I'm enjoying these obscurities more and more on CD-i. It looks like this title was only released in USA, with catalogue number 310690088-2. It was originally released in 1992 by Philips Interactive Media of America.

From the disc:
"Coins connect us to history. They reflect America, its personal dramas, emerging symbols, and larger than life personalities. Now CD-i gives you an inside look at more than 150 coins from The National Numismatic Collection of The Smithsonian Institution, and three private collections. Did you know that the United States used to have 1/2c, 2c, 3c and 20c coins? That Benjamin Franklin printed paper money for the colonies? That an 1877 cent is now worth hundreds of dollars?
Experience the remarkable story of each coin. Hear the voices and rousing music of the era amid photographs, etchings, political cartoon, and other distinctly American memorabilia. Pause to flip a coin, examine a detail, or dig deeper for factual or anecdotal information. Store your favorites in the Coin Folder, your own personal treasure trove. Discover the personal pleasure and inspiration  of coin collecting through the magic of CD-i!
