Most people only think about Philips when they hear about CD-i. Interesting enough, lots of other companies have produced their own CD-i players, some of them were borrowed Philips models. Exceptions include Sony, who produced a portable CD-i player going strong with the name "Intelligent Discman". The Sony CD-i player didn't support Digital Video and it could not be upgraded with a cartridge like with the docking station of the Philips CD-i 310/350/360 player. The design was relatively small, I wonder if the technique within belonged to Philips. One of our readers offered us high-res pictures of the IVO-V11. This gallery will show you the beauty of the Sony CD-i player, released in 1991. A pity they never continued this road...
