Here at Interactive Dreams we love to see more attention to our CD-i format. Thankfully our friends at 'The World of CD-i' have managed to give us a whole new CD-i website since April 1st, 2019. That means they exist for 1 year today: Congratulations! Let's have a look at the highlights that 'The World of CD-i' has given us in the past year:
Our top 4 would be:
- The CD-i catalogue: They managed to get the broadest CD-i catalogue online, including other genres than games. That's a valuable addition, as most others focus primarily on CD-i games. While there are still some errors in the lists, the collectors appeal is high and we also make us of it when finding references or CD-i info. Recommended!
- The Console Purist Chronicles: Omegalfa (The main contributor to The World of CD-i) has created in the past weeks nice articles for the Facebook group 'Console Purist'. The following subjects have been presented recently:
- What is the best CD-i player for a rooky?
- Find the best CD-i controller
- The different CD-i cases & formats
- The CD-i catalogue country codes
- Information on the Timekeeper chip
- Substitution of the Timekeeper in a CD-i 205 & 910
- Review of CD-i game "Atlantis: The Last Resort"
- Review of CD-i game "Alien Gate"
- The testing of many CD-i titles in CD-i Emulator: Thanks to CD-i member BurnCycle we have more knowledge which CD-i titles will work in CD-i Emulator and what is the potential of the Digital Video Cartridge emulation in CD-i Emulator
- Potential development in CD-i hardware and CD-i homebrew: This is purely based on announcements, it is nice to see the potential to develop new CD-i hardware and CD-i homebrew. But we have to be careful, a lot of things have been announced in the past years and the output is totally different than expectations, but it keeps our eyes open. With CD-i member Topxicemu leaving, it is uncertain how this will develop.
Keep up the good work!
Congratulations from our team!
