Bundle Disc early version of The Apprentice
You might not have noticed any differences at the time you received the free Bundle Disc on CD-i that was spreaded by Free Record Shop in The Netherlands, but this was a unique chance to play an early version of The Apprentice. Now that we compare the early version with the retail version, it's interesting to discover some changes in the level design as well as in the colour palette. The top picture is from level 1 in the early version of The Apprentice on CD-i. Have a close look!

Retail edition of The Apprentice
Above you'll see a screen of level 1 of the retail edition of The Apprentice on CD-i. Try to discover the differences.  For one, the colours are different. The early version shows a bit darker and is more green, while the retail version is more red. On top of that, the design of the pillars is different, and more obstacles are placed, probably to make it even harder. Finally, something you don't see, but the bundle disc doesn't have a SFX sounds. In the final version they used the extra memory of the DVC to use both music and sounds at the same time. In the early version, there was just music.

Retail edition of The Apprentice
The start of the level looks more of the same, but the pillars on the right are still different. The fountain on the top right part used to be a trophee. Both are playable in CD-i Emulator, but the controls make it a bit difficult to proceed in the levels.... But the bundle disc early version allows for 1,5 minute playtime anyway....
