Philips was a rare company that besides a computer company also produced lots of other electronics including domestic appliances and even air purifiers. The dutch Pentapark developed a CD-i program that was used for promotion of air purifiers made by Philips. Philips arranged a deal with former dutch warehouse chain 'Vroom & Dreesmann' to have these kiosk systems next to their air purifiers portfolio. The kiosk system offered a touch screen, which was a fairly new thing at that time. Mind you, this was a touch screen on a CRT screen.
It's not trivial to use a touchscreen the same as a pointing device, as the input is different. I'm curious to find out how this works and if there is specific hardware needed for this.
Let me think... A touch screen on CD-i, haven't we seen this before? Ah, yes, of course: Maybe they used the Videotronic CD-i system, which was equipped with a touch screen:
[Thanks, Pentapark]
