Italian exclusive CD-i game "Go" was actually planned to be released in The Netherlands and in USA in October 1992

After browsing through an old dutch Philips Magazine I noticed that Go was on the release schedule of CD-i in The Netherlands in 1992. My former contactperson who worked at CapDisc confirmed that CapDisc was about to release Go in more countries. But, as we know, that never happened. We know that Go was only released in Italy by CapDisc, in the italian language. Oldergames retrieved an english prototype that was about to be released and Oldergames released this version to the public ten years later in 2002. This one is (as far as we can see) a complete game. The dutch release was also an english version, as most CD-i games remained in the english language in The Netherlands. It's unknown why Go remained italian only and CapDisc did not release the english version to a wider public. It was even planned to be released in USA, as Go has an official USA catalogue number. Why did they eventually release Go only in Italy as a local release?

Below you will find the Oldergames cover as how they released Go in 2002:

A few weeks back we showed you that Go was also planned to have a french release with catalogue number 8120065. The original italian catalogue number is 8150058. A quote from a former CapDisc employee revealed: "Go was not meant to be local release, but the release was held back due to 'problems'." Was it due to licensing, compatibility problems, change of business opportunities, or simply a hidden harddrive crash that destroyed the golden copies :) (it happened before!)
