20 years of CD-i blogging - CD-i offered a lot more than I ever experienced during the heydays of CD-i

If there is one thing that I learnt after 20 years of blogging about CD-i, it's that the system offered so much more than what I ever experienced back in the day. It's astonishing the amounts of discs that have surfaced in the past years that probably most people have never heard about. CD-i demo discs that, when I was a kid, never reached my eyes.

I find it remarkable that so much regional discs exist that would definitely be interesting for other countries as well, but were never released outside the local area. Of course, thanks to the CD-i blog I also learnt how popular CD-i was in the professional field, it was a far more profitable market with CD-ROM not reaching its potential yet back then.

The development of full motion digital video was a true benefit over CD-ROM and it pushed presentations to a whole new level. But also in games CD-i was capable of showing amazing graphics (like in New Day by Bits Corporation) and Microcosm (both remained unreleased) and in the end, so many projects did not hit the ground, were cancelled, leaving its potential behind. What I learnt from 20 years of CD-i blogging is that CD-i could have been so much more.

Am I dreaming? Perhaps, but I'm sure you found something new in the 2000 articles that we posted here in the past 20 years. It's doing something right with over 1000 visitors every day. Thanks many times for your interest, it's because of this I guess the blog still exists!
