The CD-i 605 is a rare professional authoring player, aimed at the professional market and used for developing on CD-i. Most units that come available, origin from a CD-i developer in one way or another. Like this one, including technical documentation and a beautifully looking CD-i 605 display. The follow-up, the 605T, changed the front with a tray (CD-drawer). The one you see here was the second version which could be upgraded with a Digital Video Cartridge, which could be inserted on the back. According to ICDIA: "Designed for CD-i authoring purposes, this player featured 5 MB of RAM, SCSI, ethernet and parallel ports and additional diagnostic tools in the player shell. There were two versions, the first of which was not capable of Digital Video upgradability, the second one could be upgraded like the CD-i 604 player."
