Reader Question: "Most USA CD-i titles came with a slipcase. How many CD-i jewel case releases from USA were originally released without a slip cover?"

Some USA CD-i games that were released with a slipcover were also released without a slipcover apparently, such as Flashback. CD-i member Sixersfan105 asks: "So I see where a somewhat uncommon US jewel case release, Ultimate Noah's Ark, was recently listed on eBay and its new/sealed WITHOUT a slip cover. Any idea how many US jewel case releases did not come in a slip cover? At first I thought maybe this was a re-seal but a cursory search found a sold listing from June with the exact same style seal, so I'm thinking that effectively rules out the re-seal theory. I do know that the vast majority of US titles had a slip cover, which is why this one caught my attention b/c it was sealed but without a slip cover. Maybe another cost-cutting measure towards the end of the CD-i's lifecycle in the US? I do see where Ultimate Noah's Ark was a 1995 release and had an ESRB rating, so it's definitely towards the end."

CD-i member Blazers looks like having the most accurate answer for us: "Ultimate Noah's Ark doesn't seem to have had a slipcover, but given how infrequently some of the jewel-case title slipcovers show up I'm only about 95% certain. I've never seen one, but can't absolutely rule it out. Odds are that it didn't, to confirm. As for what other ones had slipcovers, myself and others are still looking into that. Some collectors have been keeping track of the matter since the '90s, and still aren't completely sure. I will say that, from a collector point of view, it is better to wait for a slipcover copy to show up if you really want a title for your collection. Don't find yourself regretting buying an incomplete copy of something. The majority of US titles did have a slipcover, to note."

Summary: There are definitely some CD-i titles in the US released without a slipcover, and notably it looks like this was the case for at least a part of the batch of the later releases (around 1995).
