"XDRA first came into being in 1994 when Philips, the International Dutch Electronics Group, set up a company to look after the interests of customers that wished to use 'consumer' products for 'professional' applications. This was especially important in the relatively new field of "multimedia", when unique software had been written and there was a need for continuity and compatibility with new hardware.

XDRA has been particularly strong in combining technology and sports. David R. Anderson was appointed Managing Director and provided the link between Philips and its customers. David first joined Philips in 1972 from NCR and spent most of his time in the Data Systems and Telecommunications business. During his time with Philips he was given MD responsibility worldwide for Philips Financial Terminal Systems headquartered in Sweden and Philips Professional Publishing in London.

The name XDRA was created by Philips putting an "X" in front of David's initials! Philips have retained 10% of the main operating company XDRA Management Services Ltd., and continue to provide ready access to their considerable resources when necessary."Our CD-i member Kieran Hurst recently shared a rare CD-i title by XDRA, published in 1994 exclusively for Autosport Magazine. Does XDRA ring a bell with you? Let's have a look. XDRA Limited was the previous name used by McNo, the first retailer come publisher for CD-i, to my memory they always had a full page spread at the back of CDi Magazine UK.
