Philips was active in Hasselt (Belgium) until 2004, before it was sold, transformed and renovated to what is now called the 'Corda Campus'. Quite some buildings were taken down and new modern buildings were built. When you browse via Google Street View you can still spot some classic buildings of the Philips site. Philips in Hasselt was eventually the biggest Philips site next to Eindhoven, The Netherlands. Inventions including CD-i and the cassette tape have its roots here. The test centre was based here as well; all CD-i testing phase discs somehow passed this test centre and were returned to developers with a bug report. All CD-i players were manufactured in Belgium, Hasselt being the main production site. It is in view of the CD-i background the most relevant Philips site when it comes to CD-i history.
